DNP: engineering shorthand for "leave this footprint empty." No component installed, on purpose, by design. This hat follows the same principle — a component was left off the design, and the design is better for it.

Wear it to the hardware store, to the kid's soccer game, to a client call where you're only half paying attention. Nobody scanning your BOM is going to flag it. If someone does clock the reference, they've populated the same footprint you have, and you now know something true about each other.
